Carrick-on-Suir Library is exhibiting throughout this summer a selection of handcraft items made by the women of the town's Bridgewater House Centre for Asylum Seekers and Refugees.
On display are handmade traditional Afghan, Pakistan and Indian clothing and crafts. One of the crafts featured is an Afghan traditional Pakol hat, which is a soft round-topped hat for men made of wool and rolls up from the sides to the top to form a thick band to rest on the head like a beret. It is widely worn in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
