Carrick Swan GAA Club have formed a unique sporting alliance by twinning with English Premier League soccer club Swansea City FC in Wales.
The alliance arose from correspondence between the two clubs, mainly because both are known as the ‘Swans”. It resulted in a firm bond developing between both clubs.
Mementoes will be exchanged between the two clubs before the Swansea City FC play West Brom in the Liberties Stadium on March 15.
Close to 100 members of Carrick Swan GAA Club will be visiting Swansea on St Patrick’s Weekend next week for the match.
The weekend long trip has been dubbed “Swans-on-Sea” and has really caught the imagination of Carrick Swan supporters.
Many Carrick Swan supporters living in the UK also plan to join the ‘Swans-on-Sea’ brigade in Wales.
