RIP: The last surviving member from family of ten is laid to rest in Tipperary

May his gentle soul rest in eternal peace

The death has occurred of Ballinure native Con O'Dwyer, who sadly passed away on Thursday, March 27, at Padre Pio Nursing Home in Holycross, where he resided for the last 14 months of his life.
The 95-year-old was the last surviving member from a family of ten.
He was predeceased by his parents Denis and Winifred, wife Mary, brothers Fr John O'Dwyer PP, Willie Joe, Gus and Mark; and his sisters Sr. Perpetua Alice Hogan, Chris Reidy and Sarah Ryan.
Mr O'Dwyer will be sadly missed by his sons Denis and Michael, Denis's partner Amanda and grandchildren Denise, Isobel, Dylan and Shane, sister-in-law Noreen, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends.
At an early age, Con was working on the family farm as previous generations of the O'Dwyer family had done before him.
As a man of the soil, his life evolved around farming and he was an astute dealer in livestock.
After retirement, he enjoyed going to the marts to meet his friends. Con enjoyed life to the fullest and at the age of 18 he was one of the founding members of the 'Premier Harriers Hunt' and down through the years had made many life long friends.
He was also a great judge of antiques, an interest he shared with his late wife Mary. They took great pride in restoring old furniture for resale.
Just like many families from the Ballinure area, Con and his siblings would have attended Sunday Mass in Dualla. His mother Winifred, the heart of the home and a woman of strong faith, was always one of the first to arrive at the Church for her private devotions long before mass.
The much-loved man reposed at Devitts Funeral Home in Cashel on Friday, March 28. Requiem Mass took place the following day at the Church of Our Lady of Fatima in Dualla, where he funeral cortége was accompanied by horse and hounds.
May his gentle soul rest in eternal peace.
