Late heartbreak for Nenagh Ormond as Cashel also bow out in Munster

A late converted try denied Nenagh Ormond a place in the Munster Senior Cup final, while Cashel suffered defeat to Midleton in the Cyril Fitzgerald Plate
Nenagh Ormond came agonisingly close to booking their place in the Munster Senior Cup final, only for a late converted try to give Garryowen a 31-25 victory at Dooradoyle.
There was little to separate the sides in a closely contested encounter, with Nenagh ultimately coming up six points short.
Oli Ayling crossed for two tries for Nenagh, while Jack O’Keeffe also touched down. Jonty Stewart contributed the remainder of their tally, kicking two conversions and two penalties.
However, a late converted try proved decisive for Garryowen as they secured their place in the decider, where they will face Cork Constitution on December 19th.
There was also disappointment for Cashel in the semi-final of the Cyril Fitzgerald Plate as they suffered a 29-14 defeat against Midleton at the Tipperary venue.
Midleton made the brighter start, with Alejandro Martinez Jiménez crossing for an early try, but Cashel responded strongly and moved into a 14-5 lead.
A second try from Jiménez, converted by Hunter Cowan, reduced Cashel’s advantage to 14-12 by half-time.
Midleton took control after the restart, with a Seamus Lyne penalty putting them ahead before two late tries from Joannes du Toit and Tom Roche put the contest beyond Cashel. Lyne converted both as Midleton completed a 29-14 victory.
Midleton will now face Old Crescent in the Cyril Fitzgerald Plate final after the Limerick side defeated Dolphin 26-10 in the other semi-final.
