Watch: Olympic hero Daire Lynch is welcomed by a huge crowd at Kickham Plaza

Daire Lynch thanks the people of Clonmel and Tipperary for their massive support

Olympic hero Daire Lynch was introduced to thousands of supporters in his hometown of Clonmel on Wednesday evening to tumultuous applause.

The bronze medal winner and his double sculls partner Philip Doyle were given a huge welcome on an historic night for the town of Clonmel.

Daire  thanked the people of Clonmel and Tipperary for being so supportive of him while he was competing in Paris. He told the cheering crowd that he was given a video taken at Kickham Plaza during his rowing final.

"Over the following week I must have shown the video to half of Paris, so thank you for all your support," said Daire.
