PHOTOS: Prizes galore for Cahir's top artists

Tipperary winners of Cahir Credit Union art competition rewarded.

Cahir Credit Union art competition's prize giving ceremony took place recently in the Catherine McCauley room at Cahir Day Care Centre.

Cahir Credit Union's Claire Whelan gave a warm welcome to the 20 prize winners, their families and teachers.  She stated that this year was particularly difficult to adjudicate as they received over 250 entries. She congratulated all of the winners and commended the high standard of the entries received.  

The categories and age groups ranged from 7 to 18 years and over. The winners from the local competition went forward to the second stage, where Marina Conlon won third prize.

Each winner received a prize and a certificate of accomplishment.

Winners were as follows:  

7 years and under - 1st Amelia Cyulik (Our Lady of Mercy Cahir), 2nd Holly Fleming (St. Mary’s N.S Clogheen), 3rd Patrick O‘Callaghan (St. Mary’s N.S. Clogheen).

8 to 10 years - 1st Kayla Whelan Klonowski (Ballylooby N.S.), 2nd Jason Carey (Ballylooby N.S), 3rd Megan Carroll (Burncourt N.S.).

11 to 13 years - 1st Louis Kilgallen (Coláiste Dún Iascaigh), 2nd Rosaleen O’Gorman (Ballylooby N.S.), 3rd Vanessa O’Leary (Ballylooby N.S.).

14 to 17 years - 1st John Carey (Coláiste Dún Iascaigh), 2nd Alison Carroll (Coláiste Dún Iascaigh).

Adults - 1st Marina Conlon (Adult Education Centre, Church Street, Cahir).

8 to 10 years Special Category- 1st Cian Holden (Ardfinnan N.S.), 2nd Gerard Ryan (Ardfinnan N.S.).  

Merit Prize - Patrick Carroll (Ardfinnan N.S.).

11 to 13 years Special Category - 1st Attiya Gill (Ardfinnan N.S.), 2nd Karol Obilor (Ardfinnan N.S.), 3rd Damon Humphries (Ardfinnan N.S.).
