'The true marker of success' - X reacts to Barry Keoghan being claimed by the British

Barry Keoghan is the latest in a long line of Irish celebrities that have been mistakenly claimed as British.

The incredible actor whose latest role as Oliver Quick in the acclaimed movie Saltburn has become even more of a global star, so it's understandable that our neighbours across the channel want to claim him for themselves.

In a post shared on X, formerly Twitter, British publication GQ shared snippets of their profile of Keoghan in the magazine with the caption "He’s one of our most exciting actors — a combustible shape-shifter onscreen, a moon-howling dynamo off it. And he spent the last couple years achieving his Hollywood aspirations. Now, Barry Keoghan is deciding what to manifest next."

Queue a long line of retaliating comments.

One such comment from Limerick podcaster and online personality Blindboy says "Congrats to Barry here for being claimed by the Brits. The true marker of success"

The thread underneath the article is also full of comments such as "*Zero days since the Brits have been at it*", "You can't even pronounce his name. Stop proclaiming EU members to be "yours"." while Irish comedian Steveo Timothy posted "Kathleeeeeen! The prods are at it again!!!".
