Annie Lennox called for ceasefire in Gaza during 66th Grammy Awards
Amidst the glamour of the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles this Sunday night, Scottish musician Annie Lennox paid tribute to the late Sinéad O'Connor, and in doing so, drew attention to the contrasting conflict continuing in Gaza, echoing the principles cherished by Sinéad.
The Eurythmics star sang a cover of Nothing Compares 2 U for the ceremony’s annual in memoriam tribute.
It began with an image of Sinead on the big screen, and also included a snapshot of the late Pogues frontman, Shane MacGowan.
In a brief speech on stage, the singer stated: "Artists for ceasefire. Peace in the world," a sentiment undoubtedly aligned with Sinéad's own advocacy, particularly concerning the ongoing conflict in Palestine
