Tipperary theatre to host unique show

The late Brian MacMahon

The late Dr. Bryan McMahon of Listowel was known and revered nationally and internationally as an illustrious poet, author, playwright and balladmaker. His son, the late Garry McMahon, also composed some of the foremost traditional ballads now being sung at home and abroad. In his days with the Kerry football team, he entered the Guinness Book of Records for scoring the fastest goal in an All-Ireland Final.

As a tribute to Dr.Bryan MacMahon and his son Garry, Brú Ború will have a special tribute event on the 25th April at 8pm. It is open to the general public and is free of charge. It forms part of AISTEAR 2030, the Comhaltas Journey over the next seven years.

The MacMahon family have strong connections with Cashel as Dr. Bryan MacMahon’s wife Kitty Ryan was a native of Cashel.

Dr. Bryan MacMahon’s sons Eoin and Bryan will share memories, songs and stories while musicians will keep the feet tapping.

For tickets contact Brú Ború on 062 61122 or email info@bruboru.ie at the earliest possible date.
