RTÉ listeners were reportedly "in tears" as Donncha O'Callaghan hosted his final 2FM breakfast show this morning (Friday July 5).
The former rugby player and presenter very recently announced he was leaving the show to pursue other interests, including rugby and book projects.
Fans flooded the RTÉ 2FM Instagram comment section after a spokesperson posted a photo of current breakfast show line-up Carl Mullan and Aifric O'Connell with O'Callaghan.
The accompanying caption reads, "Wishing you all the best Donners, our beautiful boy."
One fan wrote, "Ah was in tears this morning. Has been so much fun listening to you, Donners. Will miss the lols and you picking out of Carl."
Another commented, "Will definitely be missed, Donners. Don't hear the breakfast show as much over the summer so feel we have been robbed of saying a proper goodbye. My girls love listening to ye on school mornings."
Another person wrote, "You will be missed, I will miss you forgetting you're on the radio. Good luck."
It comes just weeks after O'Callaghan's former co-presenter Doireann Garrihy left the 2FM show.
Stars Jennifer Zamparelli and the 2 Johnnies have also left the station in a "mass exodus" of talent from RTÉ.
In a departure announcement post published on social media on June 25, O'Callaghan reminisced about his time on the breakfast show and said, "We all have a reason for bouncing out of bed and taking on the day. I've been blessed yet again to do something I've loved for the last five years.
"Of course it requires sacrifice and commitment, in my case that load has been carried by Jenny [his wife]. Thank you for always backing me. We go again."
O'Callaghan also confirmed his intention to focus on winning Ireland's Fittest Family, and to continue working on rugby projects.
He has also just announced the publication of his first children's book, 'Disaster Dad: Chicken Chaos'.
Announcing the book - which is available for purchase from October 24 - he said, "I'm so proud of it and I hope that you love spending time with your kids to enjoy reading it, it's more factual than you would think, documenting the utter chaos of this Disaster Dad."
