Barry Keoghan in line to play Ringo Starr in hotly anticipated Beatles biopic

The Beatles drummer all but confirmed the Irish man to take the role in Sam Mendes' upcoming film

Barry Keoghan hopes Bafta success for Irish talent will encourage rising artists

Beatles drummer, Ringo Starr, all but confirmed that Irish actor, Barry Keoghan, is in line to play him in an upcoming Beatles biopic.

British film director, Sam Mendes, famous for his directing films such as 1917, American Beauty, and Skyfall is in line to direct the film about one of the most famous bands of all time.

When asked about the alleged casting of Keoghan in the film the 84 year old drummer says "I think its great." and that "I believe he's somewhere taking drum lessons, and I hope not too many."

Mendes, who has complete control over 4 films that will tell the Beatles story from each of the band members perspective said he is "honoured to be telling the story of the greatest rock band of all time" and "excited to challenge the notion of what constitutes a trip to the movies."

No casting decision have been officially confirmed yet with rumours of another Irish to enter the film series. Paul Mescal has been rumoured to take on the role of Paul McCartney following the largest role of his career in Gladiator 2.
