The Henry Girls who will perform a concert at Carrick-on-Suir's Brewery Lane Theatre during the Clancy Brothers Festival
The organisers of Carrick-on-Suir's upcoming Clancy Brothers Music & Arts Festival have issued an invitation to folk singers to enter the festival’s Eoghan Power Memorial Singing Competition.
The folk singing contest takes place at the Old Mill Pub on New Street on May 29 at 9pm.
The winner will be presented with €250 and the Eoghan Power Memorial Trophy. The entry fee for the competition is €10.
Singers can enter the competition by just turning up to the Old Mill Pub on the night.

The Festival will kick off on Wednesday, May 28 with the official opening concert at Brewery Lane Theatre. Tickets cost €15.
The following night, Brewery Lane will host the popular Clancy Family Concert featuring performances from four generations of the famous Clancy Brothers’ family. Tickets for that show cost €18.50.
Brewery Lane Drama Group will stage a one-act play - Sean O’Casey’s A Pound on Demand - at the theatre on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, May 30, 31 and June 1.
The cast includes Liam Wells, Emma Comerford, Eibhlín De Paor, Walter Power and Will Egan.
Another festival highlight at Brewery Lane will be The Henry Girls concert at 8pm on Sunday, June 1.
The Henry Girls are an Irish folk and roots group comprising sisters Karen, Lorna and Joleen McLaughlin from Malin in Donegal.
The Henry Girls often sing in harmony, and their sound has been described as a mix of traditional Irish Folk and Americana.
They have contributed backup vocals to Mary Black and collaborated with Donal Lunny, Moya Brennan and Jennifer Kimball.
