Jessica Brett, a singer-songwriter based in Tipperary, will open the evening with a set shaped by soulful vocals, candid lyrics, and acoustic guitar. Known for her intimate yet dynamic performances, Brett combines emotional directness with strong melodic craft. Speaking ahead of the festival, she said: “As a female songwriter from Tipperary, being invited to perform at Finding A Voice is an honour. Every song I write is a piece of my own story, and to be able to share that in a space dedicated to women composers feels incredibly special.”
Kate Twohig, based in Clonmel, is well-known as co-director of When Next We Meet music festival, taking place in Raheen House grounds on 30th and 31st May, as well as director and vocal arranger of Clonmel Community Choir.
She brings a practice that spans creative producing, community music, composition, and performance.
With voice and collaboration at its core, her work connects professional artists and community participants through shared creative experiences.
Earlier in her career, she performed extensively, supporting artists including Paul Noonan, Mick Flannery, Peter Broderick and Jape. “I’m delighted to be part of Finding A Voice this year,” she said.
“Much of my work centres on collective music making and creating spaces where voices can be heard and supported, and this festival embodies that spirit meaningfully.”
Headlining the night, Zrazy, comprising Cahir native Maria Walsh on vocals, flute and percussion, and Carole Nelson on piano and saxophone, have been creating and touring original music for more than 35 years.
They will be joined on the night by Cormac O Brien on double bass and Dominic Mullen on drums. Their sound, blending art pop, jazz, groove and Celtic soul, has been described as ahead of its time.
Their album The Art of Happy Accidents received critical acclaim, while previous releases have earned international recognition, including a USA OutMusic Award for Best Album and a GLAMA Award for Best Song.
