U2 will receive an award for lifetime artistic achievements in the John F Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington DC tonight.
The Irish rock band, who have sold an estimated 150–170 million records worldwide, consists of lead singer Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr.
U2 will accept the 2022 honour alongside actor and filmmaker George Clooney, singer Gladys Knight, composer and conductor Tania León and singer-songwriter Amy Grant.
Today's event takes place at 6.30pm (US local time).
