New car sales are up in Tipperary according to the SIMI
New car registrations in Tipperary have increased in the first quarter of this year compared to the same period last year.
1,897 cars were registered in Tipperary between January and April of this year, compared to 1,756 this time last year.
The figures were revealed by the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI), and they also showed an increase in electric vehicles (EVs) being sold in the county.

There were 241 EVs registered in the first four months of this year, compared to 113 last year.
Brian Cooke, SIMI Director General said: "April new car registrations saw a marginal rise of 1.9% when compared to the same month last year. Year-to-date registrations increased by 3.4% on last year, with a total of 73,505 new cars registered.

"New electric vehicle sales have rebounded this year, experiencing a fourth consecutive month of growth. EV registrations are 23.7% ahead of April last year, and year to date increased by 25.5%, representing 11,311 new electric cars," Mr Cooke added.
