ALDI Ireland has today announced that seven Tipperary charities and community groups have become the latest beneficiaries of ALDI’s Community Grants programme, recognising their valuable contributions to communities across the county.

Receiving €500 per nomination in ALDI gift cards are: The Haven Rescue, C-SAW Community Suicide Awareness Workers, Scoil Chormaic, Carrick-On-Suir Men's Shed, Community Connect Kilkenny Hub, Down Syndrome Tipperary, and Tipperary Community Services Centre, donated by local ALDI Tipperary employees as part of the retailer’s ongoing support for communities nationwide.

The ALDI Community Grants programme helps fund local charities and community organisations that contribute vital work and a wide range of services – from supporting mental health and disability services to helping animal shelters, youth clubs, cancer supports and more. The recipients are nominated by ALDI Tipperary team members, ensuring that the causes supported by the programme are meaningful to and directly benefit the communities where employees live and work.

Since launching the annual Community Grants programme in 2016, ALDI has committed €844,500 in donations to positively support more than 1,000 local charity branches and community groups across Ireland.

Irish Men's Shed Association

A men's shed is a community-based organisation open to all men regardless of age or background. Men's sheds are grassroots, member-focused spaces which offer men a pressure-free environment in which to share skills, make new friends and connect with their communities. Members of men's sheds work on many different projects, from woodwork to vegetable-growing singing in choirs. However, each member is free to participate in his own way and at his own pace even if all he wants to do is have a chat and a cup of tea. All men are welcome!

Edna Egan, CEO of Irish Men's Shed Association said: “We are honoured to be recipients of ALDI’s Community Grants Programme 2025. Men’s Sheds were started over thirty years ago in Australia with the ambition of combatting loneliness and isolation amongst men in remote areas, and the movement has blossomed in Ireland since 2009 with over 450 sheds in operation today. Our members will benefit from ALDI’s generous donation this year. A shed is a space for men to connect but also a place which gives men a purpose and improves their physical and mental wellbeing. We are grateful to ALDI for their support and engagement with the local community.”

Rachel Nugent, National Sustainability Manager, ALDI Ireland said: “We continue to be proud of the impact that our Community Grants programme has across the country. We are pleased to be donating €86,500 this year to so many vital local charities and community groups across Ireland. These organisations are the backbone of their communities, and we’re delighted to play a part in helping them do what they do best.

“This Community Grants programme is a reflection of ALDI’s ongoing commitment to building strong, lasting relationships in the communities we serve. Since 2016, we’ve donated €844,500 through the programme, and we look forward to supporting even more local causes in the years ahead.”

Operating eight stores in County Tipperary, ALDI plays an active role in the local community. Through its long-standing partnership with FoodCloud, ALDI Tipperary stores have donated over 200,000 meals to local charities, helping avoid more than 280,000 kgs of CO2e emissions. ALDI partners with Tipperary-based food and drink producers, including Greenvalley Farms, Bulmers, and Glenpatrick Spring Water.
