Two students from Scoil Mhuire Secondary School in Carrick-on-Suir have won the National Young Innovator Award for 2026 for their student enterprise Access4All?
Transition Year students Katie Lonergan and Saoirse Shanahan-Roche developed Access4All? as part of the
national Student Enterprise Programme, delivered locally by Local Enterprise Office Tipperary and supported nationally by the Local Enterprise Office network.
Access4All? is designed to help improve accessibility for people with disabilities by identifying and highlighting accessibility features in businesses and public spaces.
Their idea aims to make it easier for people to find locations that are accessible and inclusive, helping individuals plan visits to shops, services and venues with greater confidence.
The Greenhill students’ idea impressed judges for its creativity, innovation and strong social impact, addressing a real challenge faced by many people in everyday life.
The awards were presented at a special innovation event held at Microsoft DreamSpace in Dublin, where the Top Five Most Innovative Student Enterprise ideas in Ireland for 2026 were recognised and pitched their business to a panel of judges to secure the overall award.
Both students will now compete in the Tipperary Student Enterprise final in Thurles tomorrow (Friday, March 6).
Read full report including interview with the two award winning students in the next edition of The Nationalist on sale in shops (next Wednesday, March 11).
