Darren Hassett, Digital Development Director for Iconic Media Group UK and Ireland, is a native of Boherlahan and son of Oliver and Josephine Hassett.
Darren Hassett has announced that he is moving from his role as Regional Editor for Iconic Media Group in Tipperary to focus fully on his senior position as Digital Development Director within the business.
In a statement, Darren, a native of Boherlahan, said: "After almost six years as Managing Editor of The Nationalist, and nearly five years as Regional Editor of the Tipperary Star and The Nationalist, I am looking forward to devoting my full attention to my role as Digital Development Director, a position I have held since 2023 with Iconic Media Group UK and Ireland."

The 36-year-old added: "In my six years as Editor we have covered a General Election, the Local Elections, a senior All-Ireland win in hurling, four Harty Cup wins, a Munster senior football title, an U20 hurling All-Ireland, Minor hurling All-Irelands, an intermediate club All-Ireland victory and so much more in news that informed, educated or entertained the people of Tipperary and beyond.

"So I was, if anything, a good luck charm for the Premier County and its inter-county teams, clubs and schools.
"We covered all those events and more, every week, to the highest standard and I am incredibly proud of the body of work behind us.

"We took the papers to new heights, grew digital audiences to record levels and won four national media awards in five years.
"It was a period of incredible success in print and online for IMG's Tipperary offering. In over 100 years, no one else, to date, has had the privilege of editing both papers.
