Plans progressing for over 40 new social homes in Tipperary estate

Councillors in Tipperary have passed a Part 8 planning proposal for Tipperary County Council to carry out a housing development at Mountain View Drive, Lissava, and Carrigeen, Cahir.

The development will see 45 new social housing units built in Cahir.

Independent Cllr Máirín McGrath had a query for the council’s plenary meeting held in December, in relation to the proposed development.

She told the meeting that social housing is welcomed as the site itself is in a challenging area.

She asked if planning for a ring road would be added to the development as the main road outside of the estate sees very heavy traffic.

A spokesperson for the council responded saying that an agreement had been made with a neighbouring estate that the two roads will link together.
