Carrick-on-Suir AC's Emma O'Neill wins Tipperary Juvenile Athlete of 2023 award

Carrick-on-Suir AC triple and long jumper Emma O’Neill won the Best Female Juvenile Athlete of 2023 prize at the Tipperary Athletics County Star Awards.

The young track & field star received the award in the U15- U19 category at a ceremony in the Horse & Jockey Hotel on March 9.
Emma started off 2023 winning gold in the Indoor Munster Junior Triple Jump and bronze in the Long Jump.

She went onto win the National Women’s Junior Indoor Triple Jump title with an impressive personal best of 11.24m. And she won silver in her first Women’s Senior National Indoor final at just 17 years of age with another PB jump of 11.35m.

Emma also won gold in the Triple and Long Jump at the Girls Munster Indoors Championship and a national U19 Long Jump title with a jump of 5.42m.

In outdoor competition, she won gold in the East Munster Schools Long Jump and silver in the Silver Jump.

At the National Track & Field Championships in Tullamore, she won gold in the U19 Long Jump with a personal best of 5.62m and was third in the Triple Jump.

Emma was also a member of the Tipperary County T&F team that competed in the National League Championships in the Triple Jump and 4x100m relay, helping the team secure 2nd place for the second year in a row.

Meanwhile, another Carrick AC star Miriam Daly was also recognised at the Tipperary Athletics County Star Awards for the University 400m indoor and outdoor titles she achieved during 2023.
