"We are not going away," says Cllr David Dunne as he reminds the Government and HSE that "the people of Carrick-on-Suir and the surrounding areas deserve and need our services back".
A representative of the Save St Brigid's Hospital Action Group said they came together to mark St Brigid's Day on the hospital grounds in Carrick-on-Suir.
The statement added: "The respite, convalescent care and palliative care services the hospital provided is sorely missed by the Community across three counties, Tipperary, Waterford and Kilkenny.
"Our newly-elected TDs across the three counties will now be lobbied to campaign within Leinster House for these services given promises several of them made during the recent election campaign.
"We need these TDs to work together. The fight for these services continues and our group will seek a meeting with the new Health Minister in relation to the deceitful closure and the impact the lack of services is having on the people of the area.
"The St Brigid's Crosses which were brought to the event are traditionally a symbol of empowerment.
"The 11,000 signatures we received during our campaign to save the hospital show the public support for the reinstatement of services in the Carrick-on-Suir area, they also show an empowered community and our campaign group is up for the fight."
