Pilgrims from five south Carrick-on-Suir parishes took part in Jubilee Walks of Hope from their communities to St Nicholas Church in Carrick-on-Suir town centre on Sunday, August 17 where they attended a prayer service celebrated by the Bishop of Waterford & Lismore.

The walks for parishioners of the parishes of Carrick-on-Suir & Faugheen, Carrickbeg & Windgap, Grangemockler & Ballyneale, Kilsheelan & Kilcash and Clonea & Rathgormack were organised to celebrate the Catholic Church’s Jubilee year.

The pilgrims departed from their parishes early in the afternoon and gathered at St Nicholas Church at 4pm for the special liturgy celebrated by Bishop Alphonsus Cullinan.

Refreshments were served after the prayer service in the Carraig Hotel for the walkers, volunteers who helped with organising the walks and local clergy.

The refreshments included a cake marking Bishop Cullinan’s 10th year as Bishop of Waterford & Lismore.
