The public were invited to find out about a wide range of Further Education courses available in Carrick-on-Suir at the Tipperary Education and Training Board’s FET College Open Morning last week.
Tipperary ETB students and staff were on hand from 10.30am-12.30pm on Tuesday, March 10 to answer questions about the array of full-time, part-time, certified and non-certified courses available in the centre, as well as apprenticeship provision.
The open morning included talks, information stands and guided tours of the campus for the public. In the afternoon students from local secondary schools, Scoil Mhuire and ERSS, were provided with tours of the campus.
The students engaged in informative talks on the opportunities that Further Education, Training and Apprenticeships can provide for them in their education and career pathways.
The FET College is a central location for a vast range of interesting courses geared towards career and personal development, ranging from QQI Levels 1-6.
These courses include, but are not limited to: Business and Office Administration, Computers/Information Technology Skills, AI, Culinary Skills, Childcare, Get Connected with your Smartphone, Early Learning & Care (Childcare), Employment Skills, ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages), Healthcare, Horticulture, Home Repairs & Maintenance, Numeracy Skills/Maths, Office Skills, Reading & Writing Skills, Woodwork, Tour Guiding, Barista Skills, Emergency Medical Technician and many more.
The College also hosts Phase 2 Electrical Apprenticeship training, attracting apprentice electricians from all over Ireland.
People of all ages visited the Open Morning to find courses that fit into their schedule, with many courses typically running during the school year and classes delivered on a full day, morning, afternoon and/or evening basis.
FET Centre Manager Fiona Hennessy is encouraging people to avail of this opportunity:

“We focus on the learner as an individual and encourage everyone to learn at their own pace, providing the opportunity to learn new skills, acquire knowledge, and for students to develop themselves personally and professionally.
