NEW: Update offered on major roundabout works in large Tipperary town

A busy Cashel roundabout could be in for a major revamp

Local councillor Liam Browne has today, Tuesday, offered an update on proposed works on the roundabouts outside the Bregawn estate and at the Dualla Road/Friar Street Junction.

"As anyone who uses the junctions know, they both pose significant danger, and it is a priority of mine to try to make both safer as soon as possible," he began.

"An audit has been done regarding how this roundabout is currently operating. The fact that many cars are speeding over the roundabout has been highlighted.

"A road designer is reviewing the current set up and we're awaiting recommendations, and proposals around how to make this safer. When I get them, I will post the information."

Cllr Browne also offered an update on the Dualla Road roundabout.

:

"A proposed design for a new junction layout at the Dualla Road will be presented to us in the council next Monday. It will be up to us to agree a design and then move to finding funding to construct the works.

"Please be aware, the council know there are issues, and the council engineers are committed to doing works to make the junctions safer.

"It's not an easy fix and anything built will need to be robust and safe, so I'd prefer it gets done right, rather than done fast, while accepting that it cannot drag on too long. We all want the safest solution."
