LIVE: Uisce Éireann working to restore supply to customers in Tipperary after outage

It is expected that supply will return from 4pm today.

Burst water main could cause disruption in Dundalk today

Uisce Éireann has said that it is working to restore normal water supply to homes and businesses in Cashel following an unplanned interruption to the water supply locally.

This has caused an outage at Springmount Water Treatment Plant overnight, which has resulted in Cashel Reservoir to become depleted.

The outage is causing an interruption to supply for homes and businesses in Golden Village, Galtee View Estate, Mantle Hill, Spital Land, Cloghleigh, Boytonrath, Dangandargan, Golden Road, Caiseal na Ri, Cluain Orga as well as Spafield, The Steeples, Palmers Hill, Bohereengloss and the surrounding areas.

Crews have been on site since early this morning and are working to restore normal water supply. It is expected that supply will return from 4pm today.

However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers at the end of the network or on higher ground as the system recharges as the reservoir and network have been depleted it will take some time to refill over the course of the day.

Uisce Éireann's Pierce Faherty regrets the inconvenience for customers, adding: "We understand how disruptive unplanned outages are and we regret the inconvenience caused.

"We would like to thank impacted customers for their patience while we work to restore the water supply as quickly as possible. We are also asking customers to be mindful of their water usage and to allow supply to catch up with demand.”
