A magnificent, serpentine spectacle weaved through the streets of  Clonmel on St. Patrick's Day as local artists and musicians unveiled an innovative community art project.

The giant 20m long snake, led by talented local musicians, represented a creative collaboration between Clonmel's vibrant arts community on a day when the weather was kind and the St Patrick’s Day Parade was a huge success with a huge number of community organisations taking part.

Olympian Daire Walsh did the honours as Grand Marshal for the occasion as he proudly got things underway with Banna Chluain Meala from the West Gate at 3pm and the parade made its way to the Town Hall where it was reviewed by the Mayor Cllr Pat English and guests.

The eye-catching snake creation is the result of a partnership between Westgate Creative, who headed the project, along with Crazy Arts with Mags, South Tipperary Arts Centre, Museum of Hidden History, White Setter Design, Glessons Bar/The Jam Session, Clonmel Borough Council, and artist Aleksandra Stodulska (Olkamade).

Musicians wore specially designed T-shirts featuring St. Patrick on the front, while the backs showcased logos from local businesses that have supported this community initiative.

The project reflects many groups in the Clonmel from musicians and artists who have put so much into the Project.
The giant snake embodies the spirit of Clonmel's artistic heritage while bringing together diverse community groups in a celebration of Irish culture and creativity. Westgate Creative would like to create another project next year for the parade and is looking for more groups to be involved.

Art, music, and community spirit intertwined to create an unforgettable experience for all who attended the St Patrick’s Day Parade in Clonmel.

Among those taking part was Little Blue Hero Joey Moss.
