The organisers of the Rosary Rally due to take place at Kickham Barracks Plaza in Clonmel this Saturday (May 24) have advised that if the weather is bad the prayer service will take place indoors at a venue close to the plaza.

Jimmy Ryan, one of the lay organisers of the event, said stewards will direct the public to the indoor venue if the weather is not suitable to host the rally outdoors on the Plaza.

The public are invited to take part in a communal recital of the Rosary prayers at Kickham Barracks Plaza at 4pm on Saturday, in honour of Our Lady of Fatima.

The multicultural and multilingual prayer service will be among more than 500 public square Rosary rallies taking place across Ireland this month to commemorate the 108th anniversary of the first Marian apparition at Fatima on May 13, 1917.

Clonmel’s Rosary Rally is part of the Dioceses of Waterford & Lismore’s Jubilee Year celebrations.

The prayer event is for world peace and the renewal of hope in the Catholic Church’s Jubilee Year of Hope.

Jimmy Ryan pointed out that the Rosary was recited in six different languages and even more dialects at last year’s rally at Kickham Barracks Plaza.

Mr Ryan said the rally is a great way to reach out to non-practicing Catholics and non-Catholics.
