An appeal has been issued to the owners of derelict buildings in Clonmel

Town Regeneration Officer Shane Grogan emphasised that the council's goal "isn't to prosecute, persecute or torment people" but to assist in bringing these properties back into use.

The council plans to engage with owners to explore available options and funding. If owners do not respond within four weeks, their properties will be added to the derelict sites register, leading to potential levies. Shane Grogan noted a 50% turnover rate in similar initiatives across the county, highlighting the positive movement in restoring properties.
Cllr Richie Molloy Independent Member of Tipperary County Council welcomed the report of the Town Regeneration Officer Shane Grogan at the July Meeting of the Clonmel Borough District.#

He said it was one of the biggest issues at present in the town of Clonmel . Cllr Molloy said derelict buildings were a scourge on the town as they dragged down other businesses who go so much effort to ensure their buildings are kept to a high standard.
He went on to ask that the Town Regeneration Officer to keep engaging with the owners of Market Place as the buildings in this area are once again becoming shabby despite the wonderful work done by the local STAG group in painting the shop windows last year.
Cllr Molloy asked owners of derelict properties to engage with the council to explore funding that might be available to enhance their properties and restore the centre to its rightful place .
