BREAKING: 19-year-old Tipperary man appears before court on murder charge

Nathan Hanlon, who is charged with the murder of Ian Walsh in Carrick-on-Suir appeared before Clonmel Court today

A 19-year-old man who has been charged with the murder of Ian Walsh in Carrick-on-Suir on August 2 was brought before   Clonmel District Court again today, Tuesday  August 26.

Nathan Hanlon, with an address at 1 Castle View, Ballyneale, appeared before Judge Miriam Walsh on Tuesday evening shortly after 5.30.

He was remanded in custody with consent to appear in person before Clonmel District Court again on September 23.

Hanlon, who did not speak in court during the three-minute hearing, is charged with the murder of Ian Walsh at 62 Ravenswood, Cregg Road, Carrick-on-Suir on August 2.

Sgt Thomas O'Brien told Judge Walsh that the DPP has consented to a four-week adjournment.

John Joy,Solicitor who represented the defendant, said there may be a bail application in the interim.

Judge Walsh asked if there was progress made on the psychological assessment that was approved at a previous hearing.

John Joy said progress was being made on that matter. Judge Walsh gave a direction asking the governor to expedite the matter.

The funeral of Ian Walsh, a native of Waterford city who was an Irish Rail enthusiast, took place in Cork. His body was found at his home on August 4 at Ravenswood and the investigation was upgraded to murder three days later.
