Kiladangan 1-18 Moycarkey Borris 0-17

Kiladangan got their league campaign off to a good start when they defeated Moycarkey Borris at Puckaun last Saturday afternoon. The homeside trailed 0-9 to 0-8 at half time and helped by a Conor Culhane goal they came good in the second half with Shane Gleeson, Paul Flynn, Tadgh Gallagher, Neil Cahalan, Conor Byrne, Joe Gallagher and Dara O’Dwyer were among the point scorers. Dara O’Dwyer had an impressive outing on what was his senior league debut and scoring 0-4 from play.

Lorrha 1-17 Toomevara 2-17 on Sunday

Toomevara staged a second-half comeback to edge past Lorrha with a 2-17 to 1-17 victory. Lorrha built a strong lead, sitting at 1-13 to 0-9, with Colm Fogarty netting their goal and Cian Hogan, Fogarty, and Michael Dolan impressing.

However, Shane Nolan sparked Toome’s resurgence with a surprise goal from a 21-yard free. Momentum shifted as Conor O’Farrell and Robbie Quirke drove Toome forward, while substitutes Alan Ryan, Kenny, and Austin Duff added pace. Alan Ryan struck Toome’s second goal, sealing the win in a hard-fought battle.

Division 1 Group 3

Holycross Ballycahill 0-27 Mullinahone 1-17

Holycross always held the upperhand and led 0-13 to 0-6 at half time. Mullinahone hit a purple patch midway through the second half and a Cillian Direen goal had the deficit back to four before Holycross, with the help of Darragh Woods (0-7) managed to hold out.

Carrick Swan 0-19 Upperchurch Drombane 1-17

Upperchurch held off a Carrick Swans fightback to claim the league points in the opening round of the County hurling league at Carrick on Suir last Saturday.

Upperchurch began brightest when taking an early three-point lead through scores from play by Diarmuid Grant and Padraig Greene with a Paul Ryan sixty-five sandwiched in between.

Carrick fought back but Upperchurch hit a purple patch approaching half-time with a Jim O’Dwyer goal helping them to a 1-10 to 0-6 half-time lead.

Carrick outscored Upperchurch 0-4 to 0-1 in the opening ten minutes of the second half. However, the Midmen kept their noses in front as both sides traded points and in the closing minutes, a score by Paul Ryan had them three in front.

Yet, the South men refused to give up and scored two late points but were unable to secure the equaliser.
