The Tipperary South count centre in Thurles
With just over half of the votes tallied in Tipperary South, Fine Gael look set to regain the seat that they last held in the constituency in 2016.
The Mayor of Clonmel, Cllr Michael Murphy, has an estimated vote of 4,106 votes, or 20.8 percent of the vote.
According to the tallies, that puts him second behind Independent candidate Deputy Mattie McGrath, who has 4,861, or 24.6 percent of the vote.
Not surprisingly, Cllr Murphy’s highest number of votes came in the Clonmel Local Electoral Area (LEA), with 1,880 votes, followed by 1,017 in the Cashel Local Electoral Area, 705 in Carrick-on-Suir LEA and 504 in Cahir LEA.
Halfway through the tallies at the count centre at the Presentation school in Thurles, the next candidates in the list after Deputy McGrath and Cllr Murphy are Cllr Imelda Goldsboro (13.5 percent or 2,673 votes) and former TD Seamus Healy (12.6 percent or 2,488 votes).
