Tallies indicate that Fine Gael Mayor of Clonmel will win seat in Tipperary South

With all of the votes tallied in Tipperary South, Fine Gael look set to regain a seat in the constituency for the first time in eight years.

The Mayor of Clonmel, Cllr Michael Murphy, has an estimated vote of 8,045 votes, or 20.3 percent of the vote.

According to the tallies, that puts him second behind Independent candidate Deputy Mattie McGrath, who has 9,733, or 24.5 percent of the vote.

Cllr Murphy’s highest number of votes came in the Clonmel Local Electoral Area (LEA), with 3,611 votes, followed by 1,817 in the Cashel Tipperary Local Electoral Area, 1,326 in Carrick-on-Suir LEA and 1,291 in Cahir LEA.
