Two eliminated but just one elected so far in Tipperary North on day 2 of the count

The scene right now in Thurles.

Counting continues in Tipperary North constituency this Sunday afternoon following the election of first home Michael Lowry late last night in Thurles at the Presentation Secondary School. 

The Holycross native had a surplus of 1,096 votes which have now been distributed however they were not enough to see anyone else elected.

Currently Alan Kelly and Ryan O'Meara are the frontrunners while at the other end two candidates have been eliminated. 

Following the distribution this morning two candidates, Peter Minehan and Justin Phelan, have been eliminated.

Their votes are being distributed this afternoon as the counting continues.
