LATEST: Tipperary and Limerick TDs kept apart by ushers in the Dáil

Richard O'Donoghue accuses Mattie McGrath of 'double standards'

Limerick and Tipperary TDs kept apart by ushers in Dail Eireann

Richard O'Donoghue and Mattie McGrath had to be separated by Dail ushers this Tuesday afternoon

County Limerick TD Richard O’Donoghue and Tipperary South's Mattie McGrath had to be kept apart by a Dáil usher on Tuesday amid chaotic scenes in Leinster House.

Independent Ireland TD Mr O’Donoghue accused his rival of “double standards” claiming Mr McGrath has “changed his mind and attitude”.

He said he is sitting “smiling and laughing” with fellow Tipperary TD Michael Lowry. Mr Lowry is under fire for seemingly giving the two fingers to a phone camera during the Dail row over speaking time.

This came after Mr McGrath was previously critical of the Tipperary polltopper, who is now supporting the Government.

But Mr O’Donoghue said nobody could understand him. He said the TD was looking for headlines by “roaring and shouting”.

In a comment to Newstalk, Mr McGrath accused the Limerick TD of “roaring abuse at me” but refused to go on air and discuss it further.
