Tipperary parents encouraged to get the flu nasal spray for their children

The HSE has announced that walk-in flu vaccination clinics for children aged 2-17 years will be stood up from this week in community vaccination centres across the country.

This is in response to rising numbers of both flu cases in children as well as the significant number of children who have been hospitalised with flu this winter.

The Mid West Vaccination Centre at Scoil Carmel, Limerick will be hosting the following clinics:

- Thursday, January 12: 3pm-7pm

- Thursday, January 19: 3pm-7pm

No appointment is necessary and the vaccine is free of charge.

The vaccine is also available from participating GPs and pharmacists. Parents can find details on pharmacies offering vaccinations in their area using the pharmacy finder tool.

The children’s free nasal flu vaccine will be available up until  January 23. After this date, only children with medical conditions which put them at risk of serious illness from flu will be able to get a vaccine.

The HSE is encouraging parents to avail of this opportunity to vaccinate their children against flu as flu continues to spread and is likely to continue circulating further for a number of weeks.
