Tipperary actor up against Paul Mescal and Colin Farrell for Bafta award for Best Actor

Tipperary actor Daryl McCormack is up for one of the most prestigious awards in the acting industry after being nominated for a Bafta Best Actor award.

McCormack (29), from Nenagh, was nominated for his role in the comedy drama Good Luck to You, Leo Grande, which starred Emma Thompson.

McCormack, who played Pierce Devlin in the RTÉ soap Fair City between 2015 and 2016, was also revealed as a nominee in the Rising Star category of the British awards event on Tuesday.

He said it was “amazing” to be given the nod for the coveted accolade, the only award that is decided by members of the public.

McCormack – who has had parts in Bad Sisters and Peaky Blinders – moved to London five years ago to pursue his career and said he always looked forward to the annual awards event, a highlight in the UK calendar.

In a huge year for homegrown talent, he is up against two Irish actors for the Bafta award, Colin Farrell and Paul Mescal.
