Revamp of N76 Clonmel to Kilkenny road at Grangemockler nears completion

Road works

The upgrade of 1.2km of the N76 Clonmel to Kilkenny Road at Grangemockler is expected to be completed next month, Carrick-on-Suir Municipal District's latest monthly meeting was told.

District Engineer Willie Corby said the project was nearly complete and should be wrapped up by April.

He said there have been some issues with the project but engineers were working with local representatives to resolve them.

The extensive upgrade of this section of the N76 began in early August last year and temporary traffic management measures have operated there ever since to facilitate the works.

The improvements include resurfacing the roadway, the upgrade and widening of the village footpaths, provision of clearly defined car parking spaces, reduction of the road carriageway width to a consistent 6.5m to reduce traffic speed and redesign of all junctions and accesses in Grangemockler.

The Transport Infrastructure Ireland funded project also comprises a new pedestrian railing on the bridge over the River Lingaun, upgrade of drainage to allow rapid removal of surface water, the upgrade of pedestrian crossings and installation of tactile road paving.
