The figures are based on January 1-February 26, 2022, compared to the same period in 2023.
Councillor Pat English said the figures were “very worrying going forward.”
He asked Chief Superintendent Colm O’Sullivan to explain the procedure if a barring order is breached. 2
The Chief Superintendent said the gardaí have a “pro-arrest policy.”
He said once the order is breached, the person is arrested and brought to court.
Thurles Superintendent Edmund Golden said the gardaí also follow up with the victim.
