Novas to buy 19 houses in Stradavoher Court Thurles
Novas are to buy 19 of the 23 houses in Stradavoher Court, according to Tipperary County Council.
Councillors at this week’s sitting of the Thurles-Templemore Municipal District Council Thurles councillor Seamus Hanafin raised the issue of the estate which he called “one of the worst in the county.” He said he was aware that Novas was buying 11 of the houses, which were to be used for homeless accommodation.
“The estate is in such bad condition I would welcome it because it would give it some structure,” said Cllr Hanafin.
But the Thurles councillor said he was concerned the units would not be used for social housing.
Cllr Jim Ryan supported his colleagues' concerns.
However, a Tipperary County Council official said this was not the case.
They said Novas was buying 19 of the 23 houses and intended them to be social housing units. They said they are working closely with Novas, and a number of clean-ups have been carried out.
Three of the houses are now available, they said.
