More than 30 private companies and public service bodies will be on hand to assist students and jobseekers at Carrick-on-Suir's first Apprenticeship and Training Recruitment Fair this Wednesday (March 29) from 5-7pm.

The fair is a joint venture by the town’s three secondary schools – Comeragh College, Edmund Rice and Scoil Mhuire. People of all ages are invited to attend the event at Comeragh College (Eircode: E32 X402) to chat with some of the region’s largest employers, representing a broad range of business sectors.

Among the companies which will have stalls there on the night are MSD, GSK, Dawn Meats, Suir Engineering, Radley Engineering and Bolands, while public bodies will also be represented in the form of the Irish Defence Forces, the Gardaí and HSE.

Employers from the hairdressing, tourism, agriculture and further education sectors will also be represented at this informative event, which aims to assist secondary and third-level students, as well as jobseekers of all ages, with further education and employment pathways.

Principal of Comeragh College Kevin Langton said it promises to be a hugely worthwhile event for people in Carrick-on-Suir and from surrounding areas:

“I am delighted to say that Comeragh College will host the upcoming Apprenticeship and Training Recruitment Fair, an initiative supported by all three post-primary schools in Carrick-on-Suir.

“This event is first and foremost about young people in the area. It will provide them with a unique opportunity to meet potential employers face-to-face, and it will also provide them with an awareness of the range of training and apprenticeship routes available to them on completion of their second level education, including those currently offered by Tipperary Education and Training Board.”

Principal of Edmund Rice Secondary School Majella Gleeson is encouraging as many people as possible to avail of the information on offer.

The upcoming Apprenticeship and Training Recruitment Fair is a fantastic opportunity for students from the three schools in Carrick-on-Suir to meet with future employers from a range of different sectors. This is an opportunity to get first-hand information and meet future employers, to network with possible job seekers in attendance and to personally meet with employment recruiters.

“This will give students a chance to learn and ask questions about possible future job opportunities and to explore the many careers' pathways available in the south-east.”

Principal of Scoil Mhuire Greenhill Mary O’Keeffe praised everybody involved for their work in putting this fair together.

A huge thanks to everyone involved in organising this wonderful event and best wishes for a successful and informative evening," she said.
