There was a 40% drop in the number of assaults and other crimes against the person reported in Clonmel Garda District in the three months up to March 1 compared to the same period last year.
That’s according to crime statistics for the district, that includes Clonmel, Fethard and Carrick, outlined by Chief Supt. Colm O’Sullivan to Tipperary’s Joint Policing Committee.
" target="_blank" rel="noopener">He said 38 crimes against the person were reported in Clonmel District between December 1 last and March 2 compared to 63 between December 2021 and March 2022. Crimes against the person primarily comprise assaults and also include murder, murder threats, harrassment, child abandonment, neglect and cruelty.
Assaults alone in the district fell by 31% with 31 offences reported between last December and March compared to 45 over same period the year before.
