The Down Syndrome Tipperary branch literally went to the dogs in Thurles this month - but it was all in a good cause as they raised much needed funds at a greyhound race night in Thurles Greyhound Stadium.

It was a fantastic night for Down Syndrome Tipperary and Meitheal 21. It was thoroughly enjoyed by young and old, the branch said.

"We were so grateful to everyone who donated prizes for our raffle. Some preferred to remain anonymous, others donated vouchers for local businesses, and lots of our own members donated prizes. Thank you to each and every one of you. We really appreciate the support,” they said.

The branch also had a huge “Thank You” to all who took out ads for the race card at the fundraiser for Meitheal 21.

With plenty of music, racing and fun onthe night, many patrons got to know the branch’s brand ambassador Paddy the greyhound, who greeted everyone on arrival.

The branch also thanked Deputy Michael Lowery who came on the night.

He has been there helping since the start and never fails to pop in to see us, they said.

Other thanks yous went to Thurles Greyhound Stadium, Michelle for all her help organising the event and also to Kate, Libby and friends for helping out with the tickets and racecards. MC for the night was the ever popular Johnny Looby from Tipp FM , with music by the Gogga Fanning.

Finally, a huge thank you to Angela, Linda and Rachel for the long hours you both put into organising the event.

“It was a really enjoyable night,” the branch said.
