The Clancy Brothers Music & Arts Festival is hosting its first-ever outdoor painting competition in Carrick-on-Suir as part of its Art Trail.

The En Plein Air Visual Art competition is open to all levels of expertise and takes place on Sunday, June 4 from 10am to 4.30pm. If there is rain the competition will be moved to Monday, June 5.

Artists must pre-register to take part in the competition. On the day of the event, all artists meet at the gates of Ormond Castle at 10am to get their canvas stamped.

Artists then choose their own location from Ormond Castle to the Blueway and set up their easels and equipment. They can paint throughout the day until entries are submitted back at Ormond Castle at 4.30pm for judging to commence. The winner will be announced at 5.15pm.

It costs €10 to enter. Registration opened on Sunday, April 30 and closes at 9.30am on Sunday, June 4.
