Sergeant Ciarán O'Ráighne, a Garda Sergeant based in Roscrea Garda Station, plans to conquer a 236 kilometre long cycle for the Alzheimer Society of Ireland and also hosted a coffee morning with An Garda Síochána and Age Friendly Roscrea in the former Courthouse last Wednesday.
On August 26 Ciarán will complete a one-day solo 236km cycle from Indreabhán in County Galway to Dingle in County Kerry to raise funds for the Alzheimer Society of Ireland.
The challenging cycle is called ‘The Making Memories Cycle’ and Ciarán is looking for all the support he can get for his very worthy cause. He is already training hard in anticipation of the feat of endurance which he plans to complete in 24 hours.
Last week's coffee morning raised €860 and you can follow Ciarán's journey on his Instagram account @themakingmemoriescycle and contribute to his cause on his online donations page on
