Cllr Siobhán Ambrose says the service will bring more people into Clonmel's town centre
The news that the town bus service in Clonmel will resume later this year has been welcomed.
At a meeting of Clonmel Borough District, Cllr Siobhán Ambrose said that a lot of buses would be running simultaneously, with expanded routes.
She looked forward to the service being rolled out, as it would bring more people into the town.
In her report to the meeting, District Administrator Carol Creighton said it’s anticipated that the service will commence during the fourth quarter of this year.
The National Transport Authority (NTA) has now completed the detailed planning for the service, and are finalising a procurement plan for both an operator and associated bus stop infrastructure. The authority expects to commence these procurement processes in the coming weeks.
A meeting will be arranged for the elected members with the NTA in June to provide further information, Ms Creighton added.
