Competition authority approval of Arrabawn deal is welcomed by Aurivo as a 'positive move'

The sale of Arrabawn Co-OP's branded liquid milk, butter and van sales business to Aurivo has been approved by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC).

The go-ahead has been welcomed by Aurivo, which said that the "positive move" was in line with Aurivo’s strategy to invest in liquid milk.

The well-established Dawn and Arrabawn milk brands will be added to Aurivo’s portfolio of award-winning products, including Connacht Gold, Donegal Creameries and Organic for Us.

The new ownership will come into effect on September 29, 2023. 

Speaking about the acquisition, Aurivo CEO, Donal Tierney said: “We are pleased to announce that Aurivo has acquired Arrabawn’s branded liquid milk, butter and van sales business. Arrabawn and Dawn are well-established brands and will be a fantastic addition to Aurivo’s high quality milk and butter brand portfolio.

This purchase further solidifies our commitment to the liquid milk market in Ireland and to serving our customers with a wide range of branded and private label milk and butter products.”

Aurivo is one of Ireland's leading co-operatives, with businesses in consumer foods, dairy ingredients, retail stores, animal feeds, and livestock trading.

Employing approximately 650 people, Aurivo is a globally focused agri-business with regional, national, and international brands and dairy ingredients exports to almost 50 countries in markets as diverse as Afghanistan, Africa, Central America, Costa Rica, Germany, Iraq and the United Kingdom.
