Tipperary community groups triumphed at the prestigious Pride of Place community awards last Friday evening.

Fethard Town Park was runner up in the Community Well-being Initiative – Hollistic category losing out to Banteer, county Cork.

We Love Nenagh took first place in the Population over 4000 category.
Elsewhere, Public Participation Network (PPN) Tipperary was nominated for a ward but was not successful on the night.

President Michael D Higgins, said the awards played an important role.
“The awards remind us that creating societies that are ethical and inclusive is a task for all of our citizens, of all ages and circumstances,” he said.
