Councillor Seamus Hanafin has said he is ‘disappointed’ in the progress made in progressing the Thurles inner-relief road.

Cllr Hanafin told members at this week’s Tipperary County Council plenary meeting:

“I’m disappointed that we are here in December, and it is still on the agenda as to be acquired.

“I would have hoped it would have been dealt with in 2023” said Cllr Hanafin.

Cllr Sean Ryan supported his district colleague.

“I think all of us are disappointed. It’s taking a long time, and it is very needed. We need to progress this along,” said Cllr Ryan.

Director of Services for the Roads Marcus O’Connor said they have ‘no wish’ to delay the project.

He said that is has taken time to establish who owned the land. But now that they have, negotiations are still ongoing.
