Borris-Ileigh GAA club in north Tipperary has sent out a social media appeal to help the family of a stricken young member who is currently battling cancer.
The club is raising awareness of a GoFundMe page which has been set up in aid of young Patrick Duffy aged six years old who is receiving cancer treatment abroad at the moment after being diagnosed with medulloblastoma shortly before Christmas.
On their social media pages, Borris-Ileigh GAA stated, "Paddy's family, the Harkins, and O'Brien's have given so much to our club and our community and we'd really appreciate all the support possible in their time of need. We wish Paddy and his family the best with recovery," they said.
The club is planning a weekend of events that will be held in Borrisoleigh over the February bank holiday weekend and it will be known as the "Paddy Duffy Weekend."
It is hoped to raise sufficient funds to ease the burden of the cost of travel for Paddy's family and to keep the bills paid at home while they spend their time getting Paddy the treatment required.
