The Tipperary and Limerick hurlers will do battle for the second year in succession in the coming weeks to raise funds for the Dillon Quirke Foundation.
Taking place on Sunday, January 28th in FBD Semple Stadium, the game will be refereed by up-and-coming referee Conor Doyle from the Silvermines club and is set to have a 2 pm throw-in.
Given its proximity to the commencement of the Allianz hurling league, is expected to attract a large attendance. Respective team managers Liam Cahill and John Kiely are expected to name strong sides for the game which will mean that there will be a host of household names taking to the field on the day.
The Dillon Quirke Foundation is a registered charity working to raise awareness of Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS) and fund widespread cardiac screening for young people (aged 12-18) involved in sports.
On average, Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS) takes 100 young lives in Ireland every year. Cardiac screening can help prevent SADS by identifying heart conditions at an early stage before they cause symptoms.
The Foundation aims to raise awareness and reduce the number of young people dying from SADS through a cardiac screening programme. The foundation's hope for Dillon’s legacy is that every young sports athlete, male and female in Ireland, will have mandatory screening for their heart.
Tickets for the game are now available to purchase from the ticket section of the Tipperary GAA website for €20 https://embed.futureticketing.ie/c/tipperary-gaa/ while tap-and-go card payments will also be accepted at the venue on the day. All under 16’s will have free admission to the game.
The game will also be broadcast live by Tipperary GAA’s official streaming partner Clubber with all monies raised being donated to the foundation. Supporters can watch the game by going to https://www.clubber.ie/
